Family Sorrow

The past 40 months have been filled with tremendous loss.  In the last month, both of my parents passed away - my father, Tom Bright, after a very long battle with Leukemia, and my mother, Norma Bright, suddenly and only 33 days later.  Theirs was a 54 year love story and they have left a legacy of faithfulness, courage, and integrity that I for one am grateful for.  The mantle of leadership has been passed to a new generation, but I will miss them every day.  jbt

I suppose it's true that dogs and their humans look alike!
We clearly have the same hair stylist!

COMMUNITY GARDENS
Each year I try to take off mid-November to January and take a break from community garden responsibilities.  In February, things start picking up.  The formal agreement with the city has been signed for the new Taft Community Garden and the Oceanlake Community Garden is in its sixth year!  How am I going to manage two at once?  Plus run a farm by myself?  Pray for me!

In February/March, I'll be gathering tools and materials and getting construction teams together to build the Taft raised beds.  In March/April, we'll get volunteers together at both gardens to move soil/compost, prepare the spaces, and generall get ready to grow, and by May the gardens will be planted and ready to go.

If you are interested in volunteering or signing up as a gardener, let me know.

COVENANT CREEK AS CSA
CSA - Community Supported Agriculture - The idea is community members coming together to share the bounty of the harvest.  I've been working on the idea of a community supported small farm for a couple years now, and this year will be making a deliberate effort to move in that direction.  The goal is to have 8-14 families participating in the farm in exchange for a share of the harvest.  Participation can be labor, actually helping out at Covenant Creek, a monetary fee, or a combination.

Anyone in the Lincoln City/Otis area who might be interested in participating in this idea should contact me.

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
